About Riding

Riding and working with horses and ponies can be a great sport, pastime or career for anyone, even in a big city like London and helps you forget the stresses of living in the city.

Riding is also a great way to stay fit and healthy, helping to tone leg and stomach muscles and increase aerobic fitness.

Riding at a reasonable speed is said to burn some 400 calories an hour, so it can be a really good workout and yet it can be taken at a gentle pace to suit anyone, be they seven or 70.

Any sort of riding: jumping, playing games, hacking or looking after horses or ponies can be enjoyed by anyone of any age – riding is the only sport which where gender has no meaning.
